Eichoff
Components for PLC - Systems
For more than 70 years, Eichhoff has supported the international electronics manufacturing community with EMI / RFI - suppression systems. Actually, Eichhoff leads the European market of customised EMI-suppression devices for household and industrial appliances.
In order to support the success of PLC-technology, Eichhoff developed a range of components to increase transmission performance of PLC-signals.
These components are designed to grant high performance/price-ratio of PLC-Systems under the following points of view:
Increased PLC-Access-district without additional Access Points
Maximised PLC-Access-bandwidth per user by allowing multiple full-bandwidth
signal input per transformer station
Co-existence of Inhouse/Access- and Inhouse/Inhouse-Systems without loss of
bandwidth
EMI/RFI suppression by reducing stationary waves (Access)
or by blocking (Access and Inhouse)
PLC-Coupling-Capacitor
This device allows operators of PLC-Access-Systems to couple neighbouring transformer stations in order
to increase the PLC-supply district without additional Access Points.
The device blocks the main frequency and the harmonics but transmits the PLC-Access-Signal.
Characteristics:
Easy to apply with a safe tool
Line voltage: AC 250V / 0.010mFY2
Safety fuse: T1A H 500V
Operation temperature: -25 to +100°C
Potting UL 94 V-0
Price: EUR 20,-- ++ each (10,000 pcs)
PLC-Line-Filter
The PLC-Line-Filter has been developed to support PLC-Access-Systems. It allows having multiple signal input per transformer station to increase the resulting bandwidth of each line. It should also be applied between transformer and line in order to prevent losses inside the transformer.
In order to support the typical line current of 300 A or higher without saturation, a special non-current-compensating technology is applied.
PLC-Line-Filter are dimensioned to work in a stacked technology directly under the main fuses.
Characteristics:
AC 440V / 150A or 360A
Operating temperature: -25°C bis +80°C
- Potting UL 94 V-0
- Price: 3AC 440V / 250A ca. EUR 600, - p. St. (1.000 pc.)
3AC 440V / 360A ca. EUR 1.000,- p.St. (1.000 pc.)
PLC-Blocking-Filter
To block PLC-signals, a range of special broad-band Blocking Filters has been developed. Different to conventional filter solutions, these filters are roughly matched to the line characteristics. Because of their
special design they also reduce losses, reflections and EMI/RFI in both Inhouse- and Access-Systems.
They are located at the house connection.
There are two families:
Blocking Filters for co-existence of High-Frequency-Access- and Inhouse-Systems
Blocking filters for co-existence of systems working within the CENELEC-Band
Characteristics:
3/N/PE AC 440V /36/63A
AC/PE 250V /25A
Connectors IP20
Operation temperature: -25 to 80°C

Application notes for PLC - Coupling Capacitors
Our PLC pLC-Koppelkondensator were developed for the transfer of PLC signals in low-voltage systems. The mode of operation comes out from the lying close block diagram.
Represented are global a line (10), high voltage (12), medium voltage (14) and low-voltage lines (16) as well as local area network transformers (15a-c), which are connected by medium voltage lines (14), whereby redundant low-voltage lines (19) are situated between the local area network transformer locations.
If necessary, for example with a disturbance, the local area network transformers are interconnected by the coupling points (21) by using a NH-fuse, so that the disturbed area is supplied via the redundant low-voltage line (19) with.
The PLC Coupling Capacitor (24) enables it to use these redundant low-voltage lines for PLC signal transmission by remaining constantly use the couping point (21) inserted in place of a NH - fuse. It is so dimensioned that it locks the low-frequency operating voltage, which transfers high frequency PLC signals however. Its transfer area became for the
frequency band 1MHz - 30MHz laid out, in the CENELEC tape (60kHz - 150kHz) results an insertion loss of approx. 20dB depending upon network impedance.
The design corresponds to the NH - fuse, size 2. Additionally to the PLC Coupling Capacitor a fuse T1A was integrated as protection item. The user use consists of being able to serve with as few a PLC coupling points as possible as much as possible users.
Our PLC Coupling Capacitor possesses protection of designs and patterns (patent right
No. 200 14 631,9) and is announced under Az. 100 41 567,9-32 to the patent.

Application notes for PLC - Blockingfilter
Our PLC - Blockingfilter were developed for the absorption of line-directed PLC - signals in the ACCESS - and Inhouse - area. They draw above all out through:
compact execution for problem-free installation
high symmetrical transmission loss of line-directed PLC - signals in the frequency range
1 MHz - 30 MHz
minimum influence of the information signal at the input and output
single-phase type (AC 250V / 25A)
three-phase type with neutral conductor (3/N/PE AC 440V / 36A and 63Á)
The measurement of the insertion loss takes place after CISPR 17. A typical diagram of the insertion loss is represented in annex 1.
In the frequency range over 10 MHz it comes into PLC - strengthens networks for the radiation of the PLC - signal over the unshielded mains. The radiation intensity depends very strongly on line geometry. In the most unfavorable case resonance appearances can occur. Thus PLC signals over 10 MHz, whose line-directed component is effectively absorbed by the Blockingfilter, can be linked radiation-bound behind the filter again into the line system.
